Might You Perhaps

The bloom bush
drops roses
without care,
always she is beauty
to spare.
Seeing this,
I wondered—
might you
perhaps share
a treasure or two
with me?
Even consider
a petal
at your feet—
and I would blush
behind my hands.
Yet even the fragrance
of your no
would leave me
blessed
and breathless.
For we both know
the moment it takes
to say no or yes
is a moment
with the prize—
your presence.
