Surely

See how the foreign flame kisses my wick?
I am kindled
so gently.
Goddess of wax
in my cozy scene,
melting in a soft love
I've never known
yet feels like
arrival,
home.
Together
my God and I
leave smoke stains,
heinous shapes
like a trolls face,
even drizzle color
to stain
the white window sill
so plain.
Yet beyond this—
our fragrance and shine are true
and transform the whole room
as we are too.
Oh surely
there must be something wrong
with your ideas of Divine
if you do not believe
the Beloved
to be both flawed
and so heartfelt.
Yes—surely
there must be something wrong
with your ideas of Love
if you do not believe
this to be
the formula,
the cosmic power
and safety
that's real.
